solubility/dilution
desmodur® n3580 ba can be diluted with esters, ketones, aromatic hydrocarbons, such as ethyl acetate, butyl acetate, propylene glycol methyl ether acetate, methyl isobutyl ketones, cyclohexanone, toluene, xylene, naphtha and mixtures thereof. generally good miscibility with listed solvents, but storage stability of prepared solutions must be tested. pu grade solvents (less than 0.05% water content) should be used. these solvents should not contain reactive groups like hydroxyl and amino groups. aromatic hydrocarbons are not suitable as solvents. polar and non-polar solutions with non-volatile content <65% are recommended as diluents. desmodur® eco n7300 should not be diluted below 40% solids by weight. prolonged storage of solvents with low binder content may result in turbidity and sedimentation.

desmodur® n3580ba can usually be blended with the following products: aliphatic isocyanates such as desmodur® n100, n75, n3200, n3390, n3400, n3600, n3800, xp 2410, z4470 and some polyacrylates . however, the compatibility of ingredients in a formulation should always be tested.

desmodur® n3580 ba is used in combination with suitable desmophen® products for the preparation of light, weather and scratch resistant two-component polyurethane coatings. the main fields of application are topcoats in automotive oem and plastic coatings.
